PixPunk is a small set of file tools that do jobs other people charge a monthly fee for. 19 of the 22 run entirely in your browser, which is why they cost nothing to offer and why there is no account to make.
Why it is free
Most of these tools never touch our servers. Your own machine does the resizing, the compressing, the PDF work and the blurring, so a thousand people using them costs us what nobody using them costs: nothing. Charging for that would mean building a payment system that costs more to run than it could collect.
Three tools do reach our servers because they have to: removing an image background, and the two transcription tools. Those cost a fraction of a cent each. They are free for the same reason, and they are rate limited per address so one script cannot turn a rounding error into a bill.
What we are not doing
There is no account, so there is nothing to sell and nobody to email. There is no database in this application, so there is no record of what you processed, because there is nowhere to keep one. There is no advertising and no tracking pixel.
That raises the obvious question of what happens if the money runs out. The honest answer is that the local tools cost nothing to keep running and the three that cost something are cheap enough to absorb. If that stops being true, the change will be written on the page rather than discovered by you.
How to check the claims
The strongest claim here is that your file is never uploaded, and it is meant to be checked rather than believed. Open your browser network panel, drop a file into any tool badged ON YOUR DEVICE, and watch: the tool code comes down, nothing of yours goes up.
Three tools carry a different badge, UPLOADED, and mean it. Labelling them plainly is better than blurring the distinction to make the site sound tidier than it is.
